The Baby is here!!

Kassidy Camille was born Sunday Feb 22 at 8:22 am. She is 8lbs 5 oz and 19.5 inches long.

It was quite an exciting birth experience! Kassidy decided to come very fast - 1.5 hours fast. We live 25 minutes from the hospital and my first couple of contractions were 20-15 minutes apart - then they were very close and very strong. I think I had 15-20 contractions total and 2 contractions to deliver! She was born in our living room hall and delivered by my husband. Luckily everything went perfectly (thanks to God) and she is very healthy. The paramedics arrived just as she was delivered. :)

There were a few other ways that God was involved in this delivery. My husband is in the medical field (a Surgical First Assistant) and worked about 10 years years ago in Labor and Delivery so he has seen and participated in many deliveries, he also was an EMT and knew what to tell them was needed, AND was a medic in the military - so I was in the best hands possible to deliver at home! He knew exactly where I was and how quickly I was going to deliver and how to deliver. It was quite exciting and I am hoping my 2 year old doesn't remember anything that happened. She sat on the couch the whole time quiet as a mouse - I am sure in shock.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! What a story! Thankfully you don't have a husband that passes out! :) Kassidy was obviously in the best hands possible. I'm so glad all is well. Now it's time to cuddle your beautiful, precious baby girl. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

She's so beautiful Darcie!! And I'm glad the delivery turned out well-what a great story. :) And, hey, if your two-year-old ends up remembering, maybe it'll keep those hormones in check when she's a teenager. j/k

Joy - Luckily my husband works in the medical field and has actually delivered a lot of babies (though he is not a Dr.) so he knew exactly what to do! :) He said it is very different when it is someone you love though!

Eva - you are so right!! I didn't even think of that!! LOL!

Brittanie - you are right. Daddy and Kassidy will have a tight bond after this is my guess. Though I do miss seeing them bond together and getting the first born pictures that I have for my first daughter, but I am not complaining!! :)

Carrie & Jessi - Thanks!!

Your comment to Brittanie made me think about the fact that yes, you wouldn't have those first few pictures. You may already do/did this, but you might want to write up a detailed paper (whatever format) of the blessed event and take pictures of that now incredibly special hallway and of course, the precious hands that brought her into this world. :) Oh! And a picture of the ambulance. I think all of that would make it special for her (not just a story told) when she's older, even though you don't have the absolute first moments in pictures.

Joy -
What a great idea!! We really liked the EMT guys too and we are going to take a gift certificate to them so we can get pictures then! I have written a detailed account of her birth - I did this for my other daughter too because my Mom didn't remember much about my birth and I was really interested in the story when I was pregnant. I didn't think about the pictures though...thanks for the suggestion!!

Stephanie - Thanks!!
