Harper Collins First Look

A funny story. I have been "applying" for Harper Collin's first look books for a few months and have not gotten selected. I am not a writer nor do I claim to be, but I started out how I liked other things the author had written, etc. After a couple of months of not being selected I kind of gave up and thought I will still apply but I am not going to put a ton of effort into it. So I basically said - Have blog will review and left the link to my blog. OK so it was probably a little more tactful that that but that was the jist - would you believe that this month I got not one but 2 ARC's (they call them ARE's)!!! I can't believe it! So in the future I will be reviewing:

Hidden by Shelley Shepard Gray
The Flirt by Kathleen Tessaro

I am excited to get these!! This will be interesting because I have been doing B&N's first look but keeping up with the chapters like a book club. This one will be a fun read to just review. Also Hidden is a first in a series about the Amish and I am always interested in the Amish and I tend to get addicted to series - once I read one I need to know how the series ends. If you don't believe me take a look at the series I have started or want to start.

How clever of you! I gave up on First Look because I was never selected, and I had other ARCs coming in from all over, so I decided FINE HC BE THAT WAY. But now I know the secret trick to getting their books and may try it myself!

Congratulations on getting two! I hope you enjoy them!

I won't tell you the mistake I made today. Maybe if I actually get the book I requested . . . ;-)

I've had pretty good luck with B&N's First Look Program and I couldn't tell you why. My reason for requesting the book is generally generic. Whatever works though, right? :-)

Dewey - who would have thought? I just wanted to try something different. But who knows maybe no one else requested these books!! :)

Literary Feline - now I am wondering what type of mistake you made.:) It will be interesting to see if it works out.

I haven't gotten any AREs from Harper Collins, either. They're rolling in from other places, though, so I can't complain.

However, I just requested one ARE from the new batch, basically saying, book sounds interesting, I'd read it and post a review on my blog. Hopefully that works!

You have to write an INTERESTING cooment on WHY you want to read the book. Don't just to say that you are interested and will read and review it. HC want to know WHY you are interested in that book. I have had about 6 books in the 12 months since I joined.
