April 2013 Read-a-Thon Update

I finished Beautiful Disaster and it was awesome!! It is a great book to read for the read-a-thon because it was suspenseful and kept you wanting to finish it.  I don't remember the last time I was able to finish a book in one day so that is awesome too!

My 6 year old didn't decide to read with me but did read with her 4 year old sister which was really sweet.

I love the read-a-thon's!  It's one of the 2 times a year I get to put everything aside and read!   :)  Thanks for the organizers and cheer-leaders they made it a special day as they always do!

End of Event Mime
  1. Which hour was most daunting for you?  In some ways they all were because I had lots of distractions, but I did sleep so it wasn't daunting in that way
  2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?  I loved Beautiful Disaster! I was so glad I chose to read it during the read-a-thon because I didn't want to put it down!
  3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?  Nope it was fabulous as always!

Read-a-thon Update Hour 9

I am 1/2 way through Beautiful Disaster and loving it!! It's a grea read for the Read-a-thon - keeps you engaged and wondering what is going to happen next, plus it's not a real heavy read.  :)

I have read with a lot of distractions so I am happy with my progress.  My hubby just took the kiddos to a movie and it looks like it is going to rain - perfect reading weather!

Introduction - Hour 1

Introductory Questionnaire

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Cincinnati, Ohio
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Beautiful Disaster & Sisterland, but I really need to read the parenting books to get a handle on my 4 year old's behavior or at least try to impact it positively!

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
My home-made version of a Frappe & I just made browinies;  Also my hubby is going to take the girls to a movie so movie popcorn that he brings home!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
My 6 year old wants to read with me today - and I am so excited!!

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today?
I will be taking breaks and just enjoying myself & making it fun for my little one.  I really hope that when she gets to be an adult we read and exchange books together. : )  I am going to go with the flow with distractions...in fact the first one has already started - my hubby wants me to take him to the car dealership to get the car serviced...10 minutes in! :)  LOL!

Here are the book in my pile today:

Wife 22
If I have to tell you one more time (parenting book)
Parenting without Power Strggles

If other read-a-thons are a predictor I will be lucky to get through one book! :)  But at least I can bounce back and forth if I want to.  :)
