I am participating in the read-a-thon again this year! Yeah! I am taking a little bit different approach this year - tracking the minutes read. It will not be 24 hours for sure! </p><p>I am reading:</p><p>Other Birds - Kindle (New Read)</p><p>Midnight In the Library - Physical Book (only have a couple of chapters to go)</p><p>Lost - Physical book - (New read)</p><p>The Spanish Love Deception - Audio (I think about 30 minutes left)</p><p>Chinese Girl in the Ghetto - Audio (Book club book and the meeting is Thursday!)</p><p><br /></p><p>I have cold brew coffee made and 7 layer magic bars :) I am sure I will have many breaks to deal with my kiddos - to take and pickup one from work...and probably tons of other things. </p><p>If I can get a few solid hours in reading then I will be very happy! I want to make a dent in my new books and finish the ones that are nearly done! :)</p>Darciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02099478164929267207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7015603851013871175.post-82694936147393945272022-04-24T17:08:00.001-04:002022-04-24T17:08:28.718-04:00Moment In Time - Suzanne Redfearn<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoX2rhSvZsKbwTzGuAS-UkIGNUuFdPrtWcm7_egI279OO9cUVWIlZpATloU7YSYnwuBHJ2nuVdxhgKOZumw6aAcxKZhtipLR5-NrgP2rZq9Pq5UB-bcJUsFSJj3WE8R0scr3-b5GvBCBrtMmUijOIv-8XhmuBI9Tg1hgnOWWMsSOX25KVW3aO-MERK/s475/Moment%20in%20Times_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="475" data-original-width="317" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoX2rhSvZsKbwTzGuAS-UkIGNUuFdPrtWcm7_egI279OO9cUVWIlZpATloU7YSYnwuBHJ2nuVdxhgKOZumw6aAcxKZhtipLR5-NrgP2rZq9Pq5UB-bcJUsFSJj3WE8R0scr3-b5GvBCBrtMmUijOIv-8XhmuBI9Tg1hgnOWWMsSOX25KVW3aO-MERK/s320/Moment%20in%20Times_.jpg" width="214" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>This book was like visiting a good friend. The characters from "In an Instant Return" to continue their stories. I loved re-visiting them! The stories diverged in ways I didn't expect, so that was a fun surprise! I love the writing and the new characters that appeared. Although I think it could be read as a stand alone it is nice knowing what happened to the characters before the this book. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.</p>Darciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02099478164929267207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7015603851013871175.post-61895697555819260312022-02-07T13:43:00.001-05:002022-02-07T13:43:12.405-05:00The Last House on the Street – Diane Chamberlain<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEimOTvXM7S5MjfvEKya3eWgJ_V7W95HMFrm86KuaHZj-1-C9OuJC4P-qmpYOtnLV_wm_aW-mXkqzGx2IwcjXM13YQuH6xVqCEhGcpunOsW0vpuveVNa4oof4oBvQ4pBbNjgEopY8JYY0nQtE-m0bae5WwkQJ-XqkYeNmor_aeCEOY76Xu1JT6Un93zl=s400" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="263" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEimOTvXM7S5MjfvEKya3eWgJ_V7W95HMFrm86KuaHZj-1-C9OuJC4P-qmpYOtnLV_wm_aW-mXkqzGx2IwcjXM13YQuH6xVqCEhGcpunOsW0vpuveVNa4oof4oBvQ4pBbNjgEopY8JYY0nQtE-m0bae5WwkQJ-XqkYeNmor_aeCEOY76Xu1JT6Un93zl=s320" width="210" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal">This book was intense.
It was intense, because I liked the characters and didn’t want to see drama
in their lives or see them make choices that put them in harms way. It was interesting to see the perspective of
the Civil Rights movement and the current timeline showing how things had
changed. There was a couple of mysteries
to be solved during the book and a unique way of joining both timelines
together, which I really liked. I would recommend
this book and it would make for a good discussion with other readers. I listened to this on audio and very much
enjoyed the production!<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">

and I debated on not finishing it, but I am so glad I did.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I really liked seeing these triplets tackle tasks
together and using strengths that are not obvious to the outside looking in. One
is “normal”, one has some cognitive disabilities, and one is wheelchair bound
who cannot speak.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But each are smart and
use their talents to the best of their abilities.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They are each a hero in their own way.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The author has an interview at the end of the
audiobook, and she discussed how women heroes are inclusive where male heroes
are not.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This is true and is seen in
different ways through out the book and I really like this concept.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One thing to know with the audio book is the
numbers indicate which sister is narrating – I did not realize this until I was
several chapters in, which made the first few chapters a little of a struggle.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I really liked how people with different
abilities were represented in this book. I would recommend it and look forward
to reading more by this author.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p><p></p>Darciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02099478164929267207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7015603851013871175.post-86250054457570227872021-06-01T17:54:00.003-04:002021-06-01T17:54:43.564-04:00One Last Stop Review<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg20fDTGIr3-2LLYjHHGAa3cvZkAxvwCrAHtlx3YydRqL-PNyywHNIC-aDmSsudqtGkggh-5A2YcaR4mnm9Ts6TZChDuIhp26xuGpAxrlVhAU_scBT1Vpdnc2rZJVMmep9MvHLW_4RVnLw/s232/One+Last+Stop.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="232" data-original-width="158" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg20fDTGIr3-2LLYjHHGAa3cvZkAxvwCrAHtlx3YydRqL-PNyywHNIC-aDmSsudqtGkggh-5A2YcaR4mnm9Ts6TZChDuIhp26xuGpAxrlVhAU_scBT1Vpdnc2rZJVMmep9MvHLW_4RVnLw/s0/One+Last+Stop.png" /></a></div><br /> I got this book free on NetGalley on audio and loved it. D<a href="https://deweysreadathon.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">ewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon</a>! Today I am tackling Evergreen by Belva Plain in Physical copy. This is our May book club read and I am so disappointed it is not in Audiobook form. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwdM6wGhDTEJR3TxHKk236YoNUuhgv_sLmUqqFKwHMBOS3G2iPIVQuiBex6-4c4X8gncPUcsuFtZBPDQB2gi3ZcM9jRd9khR_QCFgKRPy0YFR6iSUgkhxWKCOkmN8tsJXGdcUgOfZfQio/s400/Evergreen+by+Belva+Plain.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="246" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwdM6wGhDTEJR3TxHKk236YoNUuhgv_sLmUqqFKwHMBOS3G2iPIVQuiBex6-4c4X8gncPUcsuFtZBPDQB2gi3ZcM9jRd9khR_QCFgKRPy0YFR6iSUgkhxWKCOkmN8tsJXGdcUgOfZfQio/w123-h200/Evergreen+by+Belva+Plain.jpg" width="123" /></a></div><br /><p>Most of my books have been audiobooks because I have been diamond painting while listening to them. And this book is massive! 900 pages, but I have taken the pressure off myself and feel like if I finish by the book club date (May 5 or 6) then great if not OK too. </p><p>When I need a break and want to diamond paint I am To Sir Philip with love by Julia Quinn. I am in Part 6 of 10 in this book. I am enjoying this series, but am a little disappointed that some of the plots are very similar - but notice that is not stopping me from reading them. This is book 5 there are 8 total. I am weird about series - usually if I start I want to finish. Which makes long series intimidating. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr62QvS1U4q-A3HcDZ7pmYFk_GVY4UI0O0Bdhyphenhyphenia7JSoSbVP0N3m9Qf4TFi5HepfaY4HvHYUBsqdYNHPdL9SHRGeGYoW6FnDjdG0DxdmmNcUam1K6whTHmZq6pUjAj-dqFDLyX5FOZoDI/s350/To+Sir+Philip.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="350" data-original-width="217" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjr62QvS1U4q-A3HcDZ7pmYFk_GVY4UI0O0Bdhyphenhyphenia7JSoSbVP0N3m9Qf4TFi5HepfaY4HvHYUBsqdYNHPdL9SHRGeGYoW6FnDjdG0DxdmmNcUam1K6whTHmZq6pUjAj-dqFDLyX5FOZoDI/w124-h200/To+Sir+Philip.jpg" width="124" /></a></div><br /><p>I am terrible about planning for these and usually end up reading only one book and "try" not to cook - though this usually doesn't happen. Listening to the book also helps when I am frustrated I have to "do life" as I can listen as I work or in the case of today take my 7 year old to a birthday party.</p><p><br /></p>Darciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02099478164929267207noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7015603851013871175.post-21953705112710030352019-10-26T08:12:00.002-04:002019-10-26T08:12:56.814-04:00Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon Oct 2019<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; color: #444340; font-family: "Source Sans Pro", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.6em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

I have many distractions (plus I am upgrading my work computer today so I am watching it to make sure it continues). I am going to try to take better track of my reading time on the new Dewey Bookmark too. Maybe that will help me feel more accomplished. With 3 kids I don't usually have the option of staying up all night so it is probably more like a 14 hour read-a-thon for me but it is one of the few times a year reading is a priority. :)</span></div>

Here is the solution for the Clue for the Clue Challenge</span><br />

<div class="MsoNormal">

<strong style="border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-family: inherit; font-style: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><span style="color: #444340;">Getting to Know You Surve</span>y</strong></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.6em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1)What fine part of the world are you reading from today?</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.6em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Near Cincinnati, OH - it is cloudy and spring here! It will be 65F!</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.6em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br style="box-sizing: inherit;" />2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.6em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am not doing a stack this time - just picking whatever I feel like reading from my stack of TBR, all the ebooks on TBR, and the many audiobooks I have. I will probably read/listen to all this time.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.6em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br style="box-sizing: inherit;" />3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?<br style="box-sizing: inherit;" /><span style="color: blue;">Coffee - lots of coffee. Keeping with my inability to plan this time I have snacks but didn't plan anything special other than planning dinner and lunch. The kids don't like it when they don't get their meals and snacks :) My hubby is traveling this weekend so I am on my own.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.6em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">4) Tell us a little something about yourself!<br style="box-sizing: inherit;" /><span style="color: blue;">I have 3 kiddos (12, 10, and 5). Audiobooks are my favorite mode of reading because I tend to spend a lot of time in the car. </span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.6em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.6em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have participated in others but usually only get a couple of hours of reading in. We have nothing planned today so I am trying to get in more reading. I am trying to get my kiddos off their tablets to read some too. :) I got my 12 year old a new graphic novel and my 10 year old and I will probably read a little together. The 5 year old will sit and listen to any book he picks so we will probably do that too. </span></div>
